Many authors, particularly first-time authors, think that once they have their book published that’s it. In reality, getting your book published is just the beginning because no matter what publishing method you have selected you have to market your book if you want to sell it. Now while that may sound like common sense, some authors are unaware of the sustained effort that has to be applied to book marketing in order to achieve a significant volume of sales of their book.
One way to market or rather an indirect way of marketing your book is through repurposing. By repurposing your book you’ll:
1. Expose your content to a much wider audience,
2. Reach individuals who might otherwise never ‘consume’ your book, and
3. Optimise the earning potential of your book.
Repurposing your book is therefore a very powerful book marketing strategy. There are many ways in which you can re-purpose your book. Here are a few examples:

1. Audio CDs
This is an excellent example of how you can maximize the earning potential of your book. Audio CDs can sell for as much as and sometimes more than a physical book. For instance, the suggested retail price hardcover version of Barack Obama’s “Dreams of My Father” is the same as the six audio CD abridged version of this book - $25.05.
2. MP3s
The appeal of MP3s is that they are instantly downloadable and readily played on your computer, iPod or other MP3 player. MP3s are often offered alongside audio CDs.
3. Digital eBook
The Amazon Kindle and other digital book readers have added to the popularity of digital ebooks. These devices make it easier than ever to read digital ebooks and, as Amazon says, within a minute of purchasing a Kindle version of a book you can download it and start reading it.
4. Course
Some books are actually developed from courses and you can certainly do the opposite - create a course from your book. A simple model would be to make every chapter of your book the theme of a module of your course.
5. Teleseminar series
You can develop a series of teleseminars on the theme of your book. You can conduct a survey to find out what people’s burning questions on your topic and host a regular series of teleseminars where you answer the questions you receive. What’s more this can often lead to enough material to create another book.
6. Coaching program
Use your book as the foundation of a coaching program. An excellent example of this is Bob Proctor’s “You were Born Rich” book which forms the foundation of his acclaimed “Born Rich” coaching program.
7. Articles
You can use the content of your book to write a series of articles which you can distribute via ezines and article directories. Now while, you’ll be distributing your articles for free you can use your resource box to direct readers back to your website for your book and so expose readers to not only your book but also all the products you have created in association with your book.
A recent study showed that nine out of every ten blacks (91 percent) who live to 75 years of age will have experienced poverty for at least one year during their lifetime, compared with only 50% of whites. Many of the children living in poverty in America are the children of African-American families headed by single females.
